Lightened Up Grasshopper Pie
Attention all dessert lovers, it’s time to indulge guilt-free with this delicious Grasshopper Pie recipe!
This classic dessert is known for its creamy and minty flavor, but often comes with a hefty dose of calories and sugar. Not anymore!
I’ve created a lightened up version of grasshopper pie that will satisfy your sweet tooth without sacrificing your health goals.

If you’re a fan of minty desserts, then you’re in for a treat with this guilt-free Grasshopper Pie recipe.
This dessert has a long history and has been loved by generations of dessert lovers. Originally popularized in the 1950s, Grasshopper Pie has remained a beloved classic.
But what sets this version apart is its lightened-up nature. It has all of the deliciousness of the original, but it’s easier on the waistline.
How I Lightened It Up:
Most of the original Grasshopper Pie recipes use heavy cream, which is a lot of points.
Instead of using heavy cream I used fat-free, sugar-free pudding/pie mix. That helped to greatly reduce the WW points.
I also used fat-free Cool Whip to save points. Mixing the Cool Whip with the pudding gives it that delicious creamy flavor.

How to Make Lightened Up Grasshopper Pie:
To keep this recipe easy I bought a premade chocolate pie crust.
In a medium mixing bowl add the pudding mix and 2 cups of skim milk. Whisk together for two minutes, then stir in the mint extract. Let the pudding sit for 5 minutes.
Add the Cool Whip and green food coloring to the pudding. Fold the mixture together, you don’t want to stir it or the Cool Whip will lose it’s light and airy texture.
Pour the mixture into the pie crust. Optional: break up an Oreo or graham cracker to top the pie. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Storing the Pie:
To keep your Grasshopper Pie fresh, it’s best to store it in the refrigerator. This will help maintain its creamy texture and prevent it from becoming too soft or melty.
Cover it up: To protect your Grasshopper Pie from drying out or absorbing any odors from the fridge, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or foil. This will create a barrier and ensure that your pie stays moist and flavorful.
Keep it separate: If you have other strong-smelling foods in the fridge, it’s a good idea to keep your Grasshopper Pie separate from them. Mint has a delicate flavor, and you don’t want it to pick up any unwanted aromas.
Enjoy within a few days: While your Grasshopper Pie can stay fresh in the fridge for a few days, it’s best to enjoy it within 2-3 days of making it. This will ensure that it retains its minty freshness and doesn’t lose any of its creamy goodness.
Lightened Up Grasshopper Pie

Ingredients
- 1 chocolate pie crust
- 1 box (1 oz.) fat-free sugar-free vanilla instant pudding mix
- 2 cups skim milk
- 4 oz. fat-free Cool Whip (defrosted)
- 1/2 teaspoon mint extract
- Optional: green food coloring
Instructions
- Add the pudding mix and 2 cups of skim milk to a medium mixing bowl. Whisk together for 2 minutes. Let the pudding sit for 5 minutes.
- Add the Cool Whip and green food coloring to the pudding and fold the mixture together.
- Pour the mixture into the pie crust. Optional: break up an Oreo or chocolate graham cracker to top the pie.
- Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
