Chopped Turkey Sandwich

This is a play on the viral chopped Italian sandwich. It’s loaded with flavor, but still WW friendly.

All it takes is some chopping and mixing then each bite has a little bit of everything.

Each sandwich is only 3 points. If you’re really hungry, you could have two sandwiches for 6 points.

The Ingredients

Aunt Millie’s Live Carb Smart Hot Dog Buns: These buns are only 1 point each. That helped to save a lot of points.

The original chopped Italian sandwich uses a sub bun or hoagie roll. On average those would be 6 points.

Sliced turkey breast: My go-to lunch meat is always Boar’s Head. I bought oven roasted turkey breast, which was 0 points.

Part-skim mozzarella cheese slices: I only used 1 1/2 slices of cheese, which was 3 points.

Light mayonnaise: Three tablespoons of light mayonnaise was 4 points. Regular mayonnaise would have been 10 points.

Red onion: This adds so much flavor and it’s 0 points.

Banana Peppers: Another great option to add flavor without adding points.

Shredded lettuce: I bought a bag of shredded lettuce instead of a head of lettuce. It was a shortcut so I didn’t have to do as much chopping.

Seasonings: I used oregano, salt, and pepper.

How to Make Chopped Turkey Sandwiches

Add the lettuce to a cutting board. Top it with the turkey, cheese, red onion, and banana peppers.

Grab a sharp knife and chop everything until it’s in small, bite-size pieces.

Once it’s chopped, add the mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Mix everything together until it is incorporated.

I wanted my hot dog buns to be toasted. I put them on a baking sheet, opened them up, and sprayed them with olive oil spray.

Next, I placed the buns under the broiler for 3-4 minutes.

When the buns were done, I added 1/4 of the mixture to each one.

Check out the video within this post to see exactly how I made it.

Serving Suggestions

Baked potato chips are always a favorite of mine to serve with a sandwich.

It’s super easy to make in the air fryer, or you can bake them in the oven.

Fruit is a good 0 point side to go with this sandwich. Mandarin oranges, strawberries, grapes, or apple slices are all good options.

Carrot and celery sticks with a low point dip are another great option.
