Weight Watchers Friendly Root Beer Float

If you’re looking for a Weight Watchers friendly dessert that’s low in points and easy to make I’ve got you covered!

This classic dessert is transformed into a guilt-free pleasure with just a few smart substitutions.

The Ingredients

Root Beer: I used A&W zero sugar root beer. It tastes just like regular root beer but it’s zero points.

If you can’t find it at your local grocery store you can also buy it on Amazon.

Vanilla Ice Cream: I prefer Halo Top vanilla ice cream for a lightened up sweet treat. You can have 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream for 2 points.

Making the Perfect Root Beer Float

Now that you have your ingredients, it’s time to put together the perfect Root Beer Float. The process is simple, but a few tips will help you achieve the best results.

First, ensure that your root beer is chilled. The colder the root beer, the better it will hold the ice cream, and the more refreshing the float will be.

It’s a good idea to chill your root beer in the refrigerator for several hours before making your float.

Place a scoop of ice cream in a tall glass. Slowly pour the chilled zero sugar root beer over the ice cream.

Pouring slowly is key to managing the foam that naturally forms as the soda meets the ice cream. The goal is to create a creamy, frothy mixture that balances perfectly with the soda.

For the best texture, use a long spoon or straw to gently stir the ice cream and root beer together. This will help blend the flavors and create a smooth consistency.

Be careful not to stir too vigorously, as this can cause the float to become too foamy.

Serving Suggestions

Serving your float in a frosted glass can make it feel like an extra special treat.

Simply place your glass in the freezer for about 15 minutes before making your float to achieve that frosty effect.

Adding zero sugar whipped cream is a popular choice for those who enjoy a little extra creaminess on top. You can have 2 tablespoons for only 1 point.

Don’t forget about the cherry on top! One maraschino cherry doesn’t cost you any points.

You can also switch up the soda flavor. Swap the root beer for orange soda and you’ll have a tasty creamsicle treat.
