Ingredients
For the marinara sauce:
15oz.tomato sauce
1/2teaspoondried minced onion
1/2teaspoongarlic powder
1/2teaspoonItalian seasoning
1/2teaspoonoregano
1/4teaspoonsalt
1/8teaspoonblack pepper
1/2tablespoongrated parmesan cheese
For the chicken:
2boneless, skinless chicken breast
1/2cupItalian breadcrumbs
1tablespoongrated parmesan cheese
1egg
Olive oil spray
1slicepart-skim mozzarella cheese, cut in half
Instructions
Add all of the ingredients for the marinara sauce to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer then reduce the heat to low.
Place two bowls on the counter. Add the egg to one bowl and whisk it.
Add the Italian breadcrumbs and 1 tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese to the second bowl and mix it together.
Dredge the chicken in the egg followed by the breadcrumb mixture.
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket and spray with oil. Cook in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Flip the chicken over and add two tablespoons of marinara sauce and 1/2 slice of mozzarella cheese to each piece of chicken.
Cook for 5 more minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
For the oven:
Once the chicken is dredged in the breadcrumbs place it on a baking sheet. Spray with olive oil and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Take the chicken out of the oven and add two tablespoons of marinara sauce and 1/2 slice of mozzarella cheese to each piece of chicken. Place back in the oven until the cheese is melted.
