Guilt-Free Peppermint Bark

Peppermint Bark is a must-have for many people during the holidays.

The layers of rich dark chocolate, creamy white chocolate, and a sprinkle of crushed candy canes, capture the holiday spirit in every bite.

I love that it is festive and easy to make.

This recipe requires just a few ingredients. It’s sure to become a family favorite!

The Ingredients

Dark Chocolate: I bought Ghirardelli no sugar added dark chocolate chips. It gives you the same delicious taste of chocolate without the added sugar.

White Chocolate: I used Lily’s white chocolate no sugar added baking bar.

Candy Cane: Crushing one candy cane gave me the signature topping to this bark.

How to Make Guilt-Free Peppermint Bark

Line an 8 x 8 baking dish with parchment paper.

Melt the Dark Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.

Spread and Chill: Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Place it in the refrigerator to set for about 15-20 minutes. This helps the dark chocolate form a solid base layer.

Melt the White Chocolate: Once the dark chocolate is set, melt the white chocolate chips using the same method. Ensure you stir thoroughly between intervals to keep the chocolate smooth and creamy.

Spread the white chocolate over the dark chocolate.

Add Crushed Candy Canes: Sprinkle the crushed candy cane pieces over the top. They will adhere to the chocolate as it hardens, ensuring each bite is infused with festive minty goodness.

Chill Adequately: Allow the entire bark ample time to chill and set completely. This will ensure the layers are well-defined.

Break into Pieces: Once fully set, remove the baking pan from the refrigerator. Use a sharp knife to cut the bark into rustic pieces, or simply break it apart with your hands. Handle the pieces carefully to maintain their visual appeal.

Serving Suggestions

When it comes to serving your Peppermint Bark, a little creativity can make all the difference in showcasing this festive treat.

Elegant Platter Display: Arrange the bark pieces on a decorative holiday platter for a striking presentation.

The contrast of dark and white chocolate layers topped with red and white candy cane pieces will stand out beautifully on any table. Add a few sprigs of holly or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra festive touch.

Holiday Gift Jars: For a charming gift idea, layer pieces of Peppermint Bark in mason jars and tie with a holiday ribbon.

Attach a gift tag with a personal message to make it even more special. This makes for a thoughtful and homemade holiday gift that friends and family will appreciate.

Treat Bags: Use clear cellophane bags to package individual portions of Peppermint Bark. Seal them with festive ribbon or twine, and add a holiday-themed sticker for a cute, ready-to-give gift. These are perfect for handing out at holiday parties or as stocking stuffers.

Pairing with Beverages: Peppermint Bark pairs wonderfully with a variety of holiday beverages. Serve it alongside mugs of hot cocoa, where the minty flavor of the bark complements the rich chocolate drink.

Dessert Boards: Incorporate Peppermint Bark into a holiday dessert board. Combine it with an assortment of cookies, fudge, and other seasonal confections.

Add some fresh fruit, such as berries and grapes, for a balanced and colorful display. This variety will delight guests and provide a little something for everyone.
