Create a Gift Basket for Under $20 at Dollar Tree

Creating a gift basket that looks impressive and thoughtful doesn’t have to cost a lot.

Dollar Tree is a fantastic place to start when you’re on a budget but still want to put together something special.

For under $20, you can gather an assortment of fun and practical items that will make anyone feel appreciated.

The key to an affordable yet impressive gift basket is to be selective and creative with your choices. One of the highlights of shopping at Dollar Tree is the availability of well-known brands.

You can find items like Betty Crocker fudge brownies and peanut butter cookies, which add a touch of familiarity and quality to your gift.

I also bought McCormick brand cooking utensils to add to the gift basket.

Everything I bought for this gift basket is from Dollar Tree. I purchased 13 items that were $1.25 each. It was $16.25 plus tax which is still under $20.

Here’s What I Bought

Basket: Dollar Tree has a lot of options when it comes to picking out a basket. I wanted my gift basket to be mostly red since it’s a Christmas present so I bought a red basket.

Decorative Shred: The dollar store has a great selection of tissue paper, gift baskets, and decorative shred. I only buy gift bags from the dollar store since it’s such a good deal.

Basket Bag: This one is optional. I prefer a clear bag if I’m going to wrap the gift basket but they only had a Snowman-themed one.

Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies: I love that they have brand name items you can buy. It makes the gift basket seem more expensive.

Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookies: Another name brand item that’s fun to make and tastes great!

Red Coffee Mug: This mug is large and has a cute textured pattern on the outside. It’s hard to believe it was only $1.25!

Hot Cocoa Ball: Who doesn’t love a cup of hot cocoa when it’s cold out? I bought this hot cocoa ball to tuck into the decorative coffee mug.

Kitchen Utensils: The Dollar Tree has McCormick brand measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a rubber spatula. I also bought a small red whisk.

Strawberry Vanilla Jam: They had a variety of mini jams to choose from. They’re cute, taste great, and look good in a gift basket.

Decorative Gnome: I wanted a decorative item to add to the basket plus the gnome gave it some height.

Assembling the Basket

Once you have all your items, it’s time to arrange them in the basket for a polished look.

Start by placing the larger items at the back, using them as a sturdy base to support the smaller items in front. This helps create a sense of depth and visual interest in your arrangement.

Consider the height and size of each item, arranging them so that each piece is visible and easily accessible.

Use shredded paper or tissue paper as filler to help secure the items in place. This not only keeps everything stable but also adds a decorative element that enhances the overall presentation.

Choose filler materials that match the color scheme of your basket for a cohesive look. For example, if your basket has a red theme, use red or white tissue paper to tie everything together.

To add an extra touch of elegance, consider wrapping the entire basket in cellophane.

Clear cellophane is a popular choice as it allows the contents to be visible while giving the basket a polished and professional appearance.

Secure the cellophane at the top with a ribbon or bow that complements the color scheme of your basket. This final touch can make your gift look store-bought, even though it was created on a budget.

For an added layer of personalization, attach a small tag with a heartfelt message. A handwritten note can convey your thoughtfulness and make the gift even more special.

You can also include a list of the items in the basket, perhaps with a brief description or a suggestion on how to use them. This can add a personal touch that the recipient will appreciate.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to create a thoughtful present. Hopefully, this inspires you to create a budget-friendly gift basket!
